The four are charged with murdering Virginia Thuku and stuffing her body parts in five polythene bags before dumping them in a Nairobi river. The murder is said to have been committed on August 17, 2011 at Mwiki Estate, Nairobi. The four are represented by lawyers Ian Maina and Francis Njanja. When the suspects appeared in court for mention yesterday, lawyer Maina applied for Njeri to be remanded at the KNH, arguing that she is pregnant and she is unable to stand.
Early, the state counsel Daniel Karori told the court that police recovered the body parts dumped in the river and later arrested the four suspects. Muchemi ordered that Njeri to be escorted to KNH to be examined by a government doctor before she is returned to court on July 10 for further direction. The judge also ordered her medical report to table before her on the date of mention. She also ordered the three suspects to be remanded at Muthaiga police station until July 10, to enable investigators to complete their investigations.
