A NURSE in her 50s has been charged over an alleged two-year sexual relationship with a 16-year-old patient.
The 52-year-old was arrested by West Midlands Police and charged with engaging in sexual activity with a mentally disordered male.
She is due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on June 26 for a plea and case management hearing, where she will have an opportunity to admit or deny the offence.
The veteran nurse is accused of conducting a two-year sexual relationship with a troubled teenage boy who was being held at Ardenleigh.
Married Ms MacLeod has been a registered nurse for 22 years and worked at the unit for the last five.
Ardenleigh was opened in 2003 as one of only three adolescent forensic units in Britain and houses some of the country’s most mentally disturbed teenagers, as well as mentally ill women.
There are only a handful of similar units in the region, including Hatherton Centre, Stafford and Reaside Clinic in Rubery, which are both for men only.
In a statement, Frances Allcock, executive director of organisational development and performance improvement, for Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust said: “The trust is aware of the court case, which is still in progress, and as such it would be inappropriate for us to comment any further.”
